Ganz Singapur an einem Tag

Δημοσίευσε: 22.02.2020

Our day begins with a quick breakfast at the hostel and then we head to the Botanic Gardens. In Singapore, it has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is definitely worth a visit. Aside from the various flowers, plants, ferns, giant trees, and carnivorous plants, butterflies flutter around us, wild chickens cross our path, and chipmunks hop above us. Unfortunately, we didn't find any of the seemingly widespread Pokemons in the park that some park visitors desperately searched for on their smartphones.

Around lunchtime, we went on a 5-hour city tour. Darren (our guide) introduced us to the nearly 700-year history of Singapore and the ethnic diversity, consisting mainly of South Chinese, Malays, South Indians, and Europeans. Of course, we couldn't miss visiting some temples, and during a visit to a typical Hawker Food Market, we enjoyed local specialties such as Chicken Rice and Carrot Cake. For an afternoon coffee, we were treated to a variety of desserts, both in color and taste. We ended the tour on the 25th floor of a public housing high-rise with a beautiful view of Chinatown. 'Social housing' can be availed for an annual income of less than €120,000, which 80% of Singapore's population does.

In the evening, we visited the famous Marina Bay Hotel with its rooftop infinity pool. In the "Gardens by the Bay" behind it, we enjoyed a music and light show among the "Supertrees," a steel art installation that resembles a canopy in the rainforest.

For dinner, we initially planned to try Chinese Dim Sum, but on the way there, we were tempted by an Indian street kitchen that smiled at us so friendly that we couldn't resist. We didn't regret it, and we quickly emptied the first coconut of the vacation.

Tomorrow morning, we plan to explore the Malay neighborhood of Kampong Glam on our own before we bid farewell to Singapore in the afternoon and head to Sulawesi.
