Plan fallen into the water

Δημοσίευσε: 15.07.2018

My today's plan was originally as follows: Rent a bike and drive to Loch Ness, not because it's famous, but because it's the nearest lake. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for today turned out to be true and the whole day was completely rainy. But of course, I'm in Great Britain, at some point this day had to come, even though I had hoped it would be after my departure ;-)

So I quickly looked for a bad weather program, which is not that easy here in Inverness on a Sunday, as most distilleries in the area are closed and there aren't too many museums that interest me right now.

Then I played pool with a few travelers from Germany, but then I noticed that the Glen Ord Distillery in Muir of Ord is open to visitors today. So I took the bus there to take a tour.

However, this program, despite a two-hour bus ride, didn't fill the whole day, so I drank a lot of coffee and then went to the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, which doesn't open its doors again until Tuesday...

It is noticeable that in Scotland, or further north of Great Britain, more and more German is spoken, while in the south I have not even met German-speaking tourists, this became more frequent the further north I went. So in the hostels here in Inverness, you will almost only find Swiss and Germans.

However, when I later spoke with a local in the evening, I had to make an effort to understand something as he was speaking some mixture of Scots, Gaelic and a little English. If you still don't understand the words after the third question, you eventually give up and just try to understand the context ;-)
