Am Samstag, 01.02. I made my way back to Luang Prabang in the morning. On the bus, I met a German girl who happened to have booked the same hostel as me. This time it was a different hostel than my last stay in Luang Prabang, I wanted to be more in the center. In the evening, we went to the night market together - the largest in Laos. You could buy all kinds of vegetables and fruits here. I claim to know quite a few different types of vegetables and fruits (thanks to my mom), but here there was a lot that I had never seen in my whole life before. For the first time since my time in Asia, I missed being able to cook for myself in the hostels. In Canada, that was standard, but not in Asia. I wanted to go wild at the market and buy everything possible (even if I didn't know what it was). In the end, we bought a few things the next morning and a fresh baguette - that was our lunch. So far, I had always eaten vegetables that were already processed with spices in a dish. Now it was the first time to eat a tomato, bell pepper and cucumber raw and the taste was incredible. Am Samstag, 01.02. I made my way back to Luang Prabang in the morning. On the bus, I met a German girl who happened to have booked the same hostel as me. Am Samstag, 01.02. I made my way back to Luang Prabang in the morning. On the bus, I met a German girl who happened to have booked the same hostel as me. This time it was a different hostel than my last stay in Luang Prabang, I wanted to be more in the center. In the evening, we went to the night market together - the largest in Laos. You could buy all kinds of vegetables and fruits here. I claim to know quite a few different types of vegetables and fruits (thanks to my mom), but here there was a lot that I had never seen in my whole life before. For the first time since my time in Asia, I missed being able to cook for myself in the hostels. In Canada, that was standard, but not in Asia. I wanted to go wild at the market and buy everything possible (even if I didn't know what it was). In the end, we bought a few things the next morning and a fresh baguette - that was our lunch. So far, I had always eaten vegetables that were already processed with spices in a dish. Now it was the first time to eat a tomato, bell pepper and cucumber raw and the taste was incredible. Am Samstag, 01.02. habe ich mich morgens auf den Weg zurück nach Luang Prabang gemacht. Im Bus habe ich eine deutsche kennen gelernt, die zufälligerweise das gleiche Hostel wie ich gebucht hatte. Es war dieses Mal ein anderes Hostel als bei meinem letzten Aufenthalt in Luang Prabang, ich wollte mehr im Zentrum sein. Abends sind wir zusammen auf den Nachtmarkt gegangen – der größte in ganz Laos. In zwei Gängen sind Touristen auf und ab gegangen, für einen Gang brauchte man circa 20 Minuten (ich bin schlecht in Entfernungen messen, aber er war wirklich groß ;) )

Direkt vor unserem Hostel hatten wir den sogenannten „Morning Market“. Gemüse und Obst aller Arten konnte man hier kaufen. Ich behaupte mal, ich kenne relativ viele verschiedene Gemüse- und Obstsorten (Dank Mama), aber hier war vieles, was ich in meinem ganzen Leben noch nicht gesehen hatte. Das erste Mal seit meiner Zeit in Asien habe ich es vermisst, dass man in den Hostels nicht selber kochen konnte. In Kanada war das Standard, aber nicht in Asien. Ich wollte mich auf dem Markt austoben und alles Mögliche kaufen (auch wenn ich nicht wusste, was es war). Im Endeffekt haben wir uns also am nächsten Morgen ein paar Sachen gekauft und ein frisches Baguette – das war unser Mittagessen. Bisher hatte ich Gemüse hier immer fertig verarbeitet mit Gewürzen in einem Gericht gegessen. Jetzt war es das erste Mal, eine Tomate, Paprika und Gurke roh zu essen und der Geschmack war unglaublich. Nicht vergleichbar mit Deutschland, es hat so natürlich geschmeckt und tatsächlich etwas grüner, es ist schwer zu beschreiben ;)


Am Abend sind wir in eine bekannte Bar direkt am Wasser gegangen. Dort saßen wir auf Teppichen mit Kissen und Decken auf dem Boden, haben Bier getrunken und Karten gespielt und so den Abend ausklingen lassen.
