Day 8: Excursion into the Corcovado Jungle

Today we had to repack because we could only take 10

kg to the next accommodation. Enough for two nights, but the rest had to go in Wolfgang's bag.

We went back to Sierpe by boat. Since we had high tide, our captain could take an extra loop through the mangroves. An old forest like this is really eerie.

We continued by car from Sierpe. At first, we got lost, but then we drove through forests and plantations to Puerto Jimenez. There we left the large luggage and continued on a bumpy dirt road to Carate. There we dropped off the "small" luggage. Supposedly, it was brought to the lodge by horse cart, but in reality, it was brought by quad.

We walked through the forest along the beach. A beautiful path, 5 km. Unfortunately, Wolfgang couldn't enjoy it. He just suffered because he still feels sick. Slowly worrying. It went well in the car with air conditioning.

The Leona Eco-Lodge is really something special. 8 bungalow tents right by the sea with outdoor baths and terraces. You basically sleep in the open air. No electricity in the tent, only in the main house, no internet - Pura Vida.

Very nice spots with hammocks and loungers, candles everywhere, nice bar.

Actually paradisiacal. Wolfgang will rest tomorrow. I will go on the hiking tour.
