Aveiro, the Venice of Portugal

Happiness lies in the present moment. And in activities that you love. For me, happiness is preparing my breakfast bowl after a work session, like that one morning in Aveiro. The official camper parking lot between buildings and houses may not be the most beautiful, but it offers water, tables, and the ochre yellow ground is already a special backdrop for my food. :-D

Happiness also lies in spontaneous encounters with people. In Aveiro, I sat in the café in the morning when an older woman joined me. She has been coming here for 40 years and this is her favorite table ;) With a mix of Portuguese and Spanish and the newspaper as a tool, we could talk a bit about the weather and the food.

Aveiro is a calm city with a charming atmosphere. With the canal and the gondolas, it is known as the Portuguese Venice. I throw my healthy routines overboard and enjoy Portuguese specialties in the evening - Bolacha (Portuguese cookie in the shape of a crepe), Bacalhau (cod) gratin with cheese, and with Chilean street music by Luis Barrio, there's a scoop of Pistachio ice cream.
