Chilling in Pokhara

प्रकाशित कीता: 30.09.2018

With its population of 200,000, Pokhara is a more peaceful alternative to Kathmandu. A gentle breeze blows from Phewa Lake, the air is fresher and clearer, the traffic less chaotic, and the clean streets are lined with shops like strings of pearls. Numerous small cafes and restaurants invite you to linger. The perfect place to chill! With a lemontea, you can relax by the shore of Phewa...

...you can read excellent books, edit photos, or do absolutely nothing. Rush hour looks like this here. Haha! Very cool.
Set amidst breathtaking mountain landscapes, you can enjoy a view of the Annapurna Range, whose snowy and icy peaks are reflected in the water surface of Phewa on clear days. Unfortunately, I can't experience this because the monsoon season is still lingering. There are occasional rain showers, the sky is often cloudy, and the air is humid. There are no pretty reflections here. Those will come in October when it gets cooler, less humid, and the air is clearer. It's a shame for photography, but that's just complaining at a high level.
But Pokhara also offers plenty for adventure seekers and adrenaline junkies. It is a popular starting point for trekking, as there are not only many routes, but also an incredible variety of landscapes. You can see how the eight-thousanders of the Himalayas rise from the subtropical valleys to the highest heights. It's insane! Many avid trekkers take on the Annapurna Circuit, which lasts 12 to 21 days depending on fitness level and weather conditions. Absolutely crazy! I admire that. But even shorter tours are possible, paragliding, multi-day canoe trips, rafting, and canyoning.
However, you can also just watch the sun go down with a cold beer.
