Beach what - Surfers Paradise / 05.12. - 07.12.2018

After yesterday we walked for 25 minutes from the bus station to our hostel, the Backpackers Resort - for which we grabbed a shopping cart as luggage carrier help - survived, checked into our room with a few loser people, washed clothes in the free (super luxury!) washing machine and later saw a beautiful sunset during dinner, Wednesday was the perfect day to explore the small town of Surfers Paradise and the beach.

The beach we walked along to get to the town was extremely long and the special thing was that it was lined with many skyscrapers, which gave a unique view. There were also many beautiful large shells in this typical cartoon shell shape in the sand, which are not often found on beaches. So we collected some red and gray-patterned ones with the plan to take photos with them someday - unfortunately we were not allowed to take them home.

The town itself consisted of a street with many smaller shops and above all clubs because Surfers Paradise was like the Ballermann of the East Coast where many Australians went on their school trips. However, the shopping mile in Brisbane had been much more beautiful and after we had seen a cool large clock, for which a kangaroo figure and an emu figure walked along and played a Christmas song with their bells, we went back to the hostel.

Tonight there would be a club tour starting from the hostel, which we saw as a good opportunity to experience the nightlife here.

So we got ready carefully around 8:30 PM and headed to the city, to our first stop - the Shooters. Since we were the only ones from our hostel participating in the club crawl, we should look out for a guy named Zayn (ahhh, One Direction!), someone from another hostel in Surfers Paradise who would get us the free drinks.

This is where we met Julian, a guy our age who was also on the tour here and could dance really well. After a while, we went to a beer garden, which didn't quite convince us. But here we could chat with other cool people about their trips - we met a New Zealander who was very excited that we also wanted to go there.

Then we went to a pretty weird club called Bedroom, at first we were a little suspicious, but the dance floor was cool and a New Zealand sibling duo brought a lot of fun to our small group. It was really fun later and when we had to go to the bathroom, it was the most amazing bathroom ever with many super stylish mirrors and even a strange four-poster bed as a sitting option, on which everyone had to take photos, which was a bit weird but also funny.

We stayed in this club a bit longer until we went on to Sin City, and it was really crowded there. But still quite funny, but at around 1:30 AM we made our way back after we had met a few funny but completely clueless guys named Hendrik, Raphael, and Nico. Overall, this tour was pretty cool, but it's not necessarily something you have to do again because it's more relaxed to stay in one place per night.

The next day I dug out my camera from the depths of my backpack again because we wanted to take some pictures on the beach, which turned out pretty cool with the skyline in the background. There wasn't much else to do here, so we started editing the photos after the long process of getting them onto my phone. Otherwise, we thought about going out again tonight - in the end, we decided to get up early tomorrow morning to watch the sunrise on the beach.

So we did that the next day with eyes burning from tiredness, but unfortunately there were quite a lot of clouds in the sky. Nevertheless, you had a pretty amazing image in front of you, especially because there was a small abandoned blue and white boat on a sand dune, over which the sky slowly turned a little orange.

Afterwards, we still slept for another hour, then we packed our things and the short stay in Surfers Paradise came to an end.

Song of the day(s): You were right by RÜFÜS, because it played in a cool remix in one of the clubs.
