We finally want to go hiking! And the weather is perfect today. We decide to combine two hiking routes. First, we hike through a plain lined with grotesque lava formations up to the summit of a mountain that is unusually colorful even for Iceland. We climb past the smelly sulfur fields that steam and bubble day in and day out, and we have a gigantic view from the top. Then we continue through a barren, branching river landscape over a ridge to three more peaks, with the vegetation constantly changing. The view here is even more gigantic - we try in vain to capture it all with photos and videos. It's a pity that it's only partially possible, but it's nice that not everything can be shared on the web. If you want to experience this, you have to come here yourself. After a good 5 hours, we are back at the campsite, enjoying the hot river again. On the left, the estimated 70-degree hot inferno water, which is crossed by an ice-cold glacier tributary, requires constant balancing, jumping and avoiding until you can enjoy your own comfortable temperature and not feel cold or scalded. In the evening, lamb is cooked on the fire again. We go back into the hot water again at night, it's just too unreal.
