17.02.2023 from the Flinders Ranges to Broken Hill
We stayed alone at the lonely campground by the road, no cars passed by at night, it's a lonely area here. We leave late, drive to a steep lookout and are amazed by the panorama. Here the Pound, the Pound is explained vividly. A valley surrounded by the mountains of the Flinders Range. We've read about this on all signs, now we see what it means.
We continue to another hiking point, but decide not to hike due to the huge distance we've driven today.
We leave the park and weekenders come towards us. We did everything right again. The next towns are characterized by agricultural operations. If there is plant production or livestock farming, the supply centers thrive. If there is nothing to gain on the barren land, a small town slowly dies. (By the way, Australia is supposed to have harvested a record wheat crop of over 42 million tonnes this year)
We drive and drive, the landscape is barren, some goats loiter by the roadside. But they know the fast cars, they are calm, which we unfortunately don't observe with the stupid cows.
We cross the border into New South Wales. Broken Hill is not far away. We do laundry and relax in the pool, from tomorrow we will drive less. We're doing well on time.
