Dubrovnik - Pearl of the Adriatic

In Dubrovnik we arrive late in the evening. The hostel we originally wanted to stay in is closed for winter. So we decide to meet up with Marlies and Flo at the Christmas market first and later find a place to stay outside the city center.
At the Christmas market, we accidentally find out that Flo knows my brother from work.

After a long search, we finally find a small abandoned building 20 minutes outside Dubrovnik. I would call it luxury camping. No need to set up a tent and it's definitely dry. The bullet holes in the wall create a slightly spooky atmosphere at night. There is also a wasp nest and a selection of garbage. But we are too tired to think about it any further. We just sleep in.

However, the next day we decide to find a warm hostel with a shower.

We have seen several old towns on our trip and they rarely fascinated me. I (M.) am just not the type of person easily impressed by them, but Dubrovnik is truly a gem. The floor made of smooth white stone slabs, the mostly well-preserved and cohesive buildings, and the massive city walls (built in the 12th century as they stand today) create a harmonious picture. It's a city that feels like it was built to last forever. If you've watched the TV series Game of Thrones, you'll recognize certain parts of the city as 'King's Landing'. It costs 15€ to visit the city walls. It takes about 2 hours to walk around the old town on the walls. It's not cheap, but it's definitely impressive if you can be excited about it.
