Twenty-second day: Cochamó to Dalcahue (May 2, 2019)

प्रकाशित कीता: 02.05.2019

In the morning, the rain has stopped. Thick fog still hangs over the landscape, gradually taking shape. A rainbow announces that it will be a beautiful day. The road back to Lago Llanquihue is partially accessible. Large trucks are transporting a large amount of soil and plant debris. The originally planned continuation over a isthmus with a ferry is impassable due to bridge damage. However, we catch a glimpse of the Osorno volcano in all its width and beauty.

The ferry crossing to Chiloé Island is unproblematic. The first stop is in Ancud. The city does not convince us much. The museum about the church buildings is mainly interesting for architects and carpenters, but it also shows the effort that has been made to preserve and restore the 16 churches built by the Jesuits and taken over by the Franciscans.

Our accommodation has a beautiful view of the Pacific coast and the Cordillera of the Andes, which is apparently veiled in cloud rain again.

It did not rain today. Tomorrow we are promised rain again from noon onwards.
