Yes, there is left-hand traffic here. I didn't really think much about it beforehand; I've heard from others that driving on the left is very intuitive and you quickly get the hang of it.
But the first few days showed me that it wasn't that intuitive for me and I was pretty confused. Turning right looks totally strange and roundabouts with several lanes and lots of blinking - huh!
Walking on the left side (and yes, you also run on the left!) was very quick and I had already internalized that after the first day. But drive...
After a week, I instinctively looked in the right direction when crossing the street, but then asked myself: "Have I now looked in the right direction?" 😅
Today I got into my rental car with full courage and hit the streets of Bisbane. When I left the parking garage, I went the wrong way onto the one-way street - but that's not the case here, it's in the middle of the street! After the correction, things went quite well, a red light came every few meters - phew, time to take a deep breath.
Since I drive an Asian make, the indicators and windshield wipers are swapped. I didn't count how many times I used the windshield wipers instead of the turn signals 🤣
So today the journey through the big country begins - I'm excited.
