After a good 3 weeks at home, we set off again, heading west towards Bretagne and then England. This time everything is professionally packed in a shelving system in the garage, which makes everything inside more organized and creates additional free space. Things that were forgotten in the first part of the journey are now on board, but other things are now missing. Nevertheless, it's nice to be on the road again, even though the weather in early May still feels like early April.
As soon as we hit the highway, we decide to go to Amsterdam. Gerhard was there in 1981, but the rest of us have never been. We find a great campsite in the city and of course we ride our bikes and take a free ferry to the city center. We are all thrilled with this city because cycling is given a completely different value here, which we simply don't experience in Germany. It's really fun.
We want to visit the Anne Frank Museum, but we have to realize that all tickets are sold out until August. Frustrated, we eat the best Pofferties ever and instead visit the city library. From there you have a great view and the children's book section offers entertainment. The next day we visit the Rijksmuseum. I'm already thrilled that we can walk in without waiting. Great. And the exhibition is really impressive, the children loved it too. The next day we wanted to go to Keukenhof, but the program was canceled due to rain.
