Queenstown - The fun city without fun

प्रकाशित कीता: 03.01.2024

At some point we arrived in Queenstown. This is the tourist hotspot for New Zealanders and the peak period of the high season is between Christmas and New Year. A nightmare for every saver. However, given our route, it was unavoidable to set up there just then. But we didn't want to leave it out either. So the highest level of spending discipline is called for.

So there are no more free accommodations, all parking spaces are taken and the streets are full of people. There are even queues in front of the restaurants with waiting times of over 2 hours. On the other hand, this is also the mecca of outdoor activities and the opportunity to try out something fun alongside classic hiking. But unfortunately, unfortunately every suggestion was rejected by the travel companion.

Bungee jumping - rejected (the rope will definitely break on you)

Paragliding – Rejected (you are too heavy)

Sky diving – rejected (you don’t even fit into the suit)

Speedboat ride – rejected (makes me sick)

River rafting - rejected (get all your clothes wet and pay for it?)

Mountain bike tour - rejected (you can also do it on foot)

Helicopter flight – rejected (far too expensive)

So there was only the one-way ticket for the cable car. Without any extras, because when you arrived at the top with a great view over Queenstown, you could have sat down on a kind of soapbox and driven down the mountain. Instead, the bargain hunters hiked and ate the food they brought with them.
