Today we have a shorter stage in mind. But first we drive a bit back to Ship Creek. The sea is very restless today and huge waves are breaking on the beach. Driftwood is lying everywhere on the beach. Re-naturing is practiced in New Zealand, which contributes to the unspoiled nature experience. We look out to the sea and discover a herd of dolphins! They swim back and forth and we can hardly take our eyes off them.
We only drive 100 Km further to Wanaka. On the way, we stop at various high and loud thundering waterfalls and try to catch a glimpse of the Blue Pool, but unfortunately it is cloudy and green today due to yesterday's heavy rain. What impresses us most on the whole journey, however, is Lake Wanaka, which appears unexpectedly in front of us and is impressively large, just like a sea.
In Wanaka, we go shopping again, visit huge redwood trees and a natural phenomenon. A tree that grows in the middle of Lake Wanaka and seems to defy all laws of nature. It starts raining again and we decide to stay here and relax a bit.
