Can Tho? Never heard of it

Cyhoeddwyd: 07.03.2019

We are now in Can Tho because we were interested in the scenery of the Mekong Delta and the floating markets. Otherwise, we had no connection to this city and were surprised to find ourselves in a city with a population of nearly 800,000. Once again, we meet the Mekong, this time on its last 4,500 kilometers. Here too, it shapes the lives of many people.

The Delta is crisscrossed by countless canals and is heavily used for agriculture. It is only natural that agricultural products are transported on the water and even traded here. Can Tho, as the provincial capital, is a point known to tourists because of the floating markets. That's why we set off on a tour at five in the morning. First to the 'main market' Cai Rang. Here, the traders arrive with large wooden boats full of goods. On tall poles at the front of the boat, they display their products.

A little further downstream at Phong Dien, there is another market with smaller boats. Here, fruits and coffee are also sold to tourists. Everything in a very relaxed atmosphere.

And markets for everything and everyone can be found everywhere in the city.

Compared to Cambodia and Laos, there are few temples here and they can be visited quickly.

So we spend a lot of time observing the hustle and bustle of the big city and enjoying fruit shakes or ice cream.

Das sind so schöne Aufnahmen vom Leben dort, dass ich am liebsten auf mein MTB steigen würde, um dorthin zu radeln - die Enduro ist leider immer noch zerlegt. Liebe Grüße von Christa!

Lieber Thomas, hast ja bald Zeit, dir solche Projekte vorzunehmen. Das braucht aber ganz schön viel Zeit
