Sad farewell and great anticipation!

Wednesday, the 4th of April was our last day. In the morning, we went on a Township Tour through Langa. That is a suburb of Cape Town. There are former hostels with 16 beds for the men who worked there. Then these men gradually brought their families, which means that suddenly 16 families, each with 3-8 people, lived under one roof. Almost unbearable conditions. Our guide grew up there and could therefore tell everything very well. Today, the situation is not so drastic anymore. The apartments are provided free of charge and legally by the state, and despite poverty, the people are happy and have a proper roof over their heads. In Langa, there is also an area that the residents call Beverly Hills. The rich people who have made it to the top live there. Nevertheless, the poor and the rich accept each other. Our guide said that wealthy people are role models for the poor. Actually a nice idea. However, right next to the main road, there is a completely different area. There, people live illegally in self-made corrugated iron huts. It was not nice to see and it is very dangerous there. You should not stop your car. Everywhere on the road, there are big signs with the inscription: "high Crime zone, do not stop your car, emergency number ...". It is really bad to read, especially because the road is directly on the way to the airport. After we had coped with this extreme, we went to the other extreme. We had a fancy Cheese and Wine Tasting. We got to try 5 different wines and 5 different types of cheese. That was really cool :)

That was also the crowning conclusion of our tour. We then went to the city center and said goodbye, and everyone went to their hotel. But we still had a date in the evening. Before that, Joe, Claudia, and I went to Table Mountain. We went up with the cable car and enjoyed the sunset and the breathtaking view from the top. That was one of my highlights in South Africa. The fog was hovering over the mountains and the sun was reflecting on the water. Simply marvelous! It's a shame that we didn't have much time. I could have stayed there forever! In the evening, we went to Mama Afrika for our last dinner with live music, and in the end, we were completely thrilled with South Africa!!!

It was one of the most beautiful countries and landscapes I have ever seen. There were also great people, delicious food, and fascinating animals. So what more could you ask for?!

In the end, we left on the 5th of April at 4.30 am to go to the airport. The next stop was: BRAZIL! In retrospect, I never thought it would be so wonderful here! The hotel made us a packed lunch and called us a taxi. We were on the road until the 6th of April at 3.00 am, and it was a long flight! We flew from Cape Town to Johannesburg and from Johannesburg to Sao Paulo, where we had a 7-hour layover :D And then we went on the last leg to Fortaleza. The lady in Cape Town told us that our luggage would go all the way to Fortaleza. So when we arrived in São Paulo, we happened to pass by the baggage claim on the way out. And I thought that the black bag rolling there looked quite similar to mine, and there we see that it was actually our luggage. It was not sent through. But we were lucky again and checked in our luggage again. We are constantly staying with acquaintances or relatives of Ana in Brazil. That's great! :) In the end, we arrived and Samuel and his wife picked us up directly from the airport and took us to their home, where we fell dead in bed :D
