On the 11th of May we drove to Cape Cod beach (translated: cod) in the morning and played in the water. We had a lot of fun and took great photos! After that, we went to the beautiful little town of Provincetown on Cape Cod. We walked through the streets and admired the colorful wooden houses. We had coffee on the beach and once again thought about how beautiful and simple life can be! Our whale watching started at 1:00 pm. We were a little unsure beforehand if it was a good idea because we didn't know if we would actually see any whales. In the bistro where we got a sandwich to go, a man approached us who looked like a captain :D He had gray messy hair and a long mustache, he wore faded blue jeans and a Norwegian sweater. He asked us if we were going whale watching now. He nodded at us and said he was a former captain and that we would definitely see many whales today. The weather and sea conditions were perfect. So we were excited and walked to the pier where the ship departed from. We took another bite of our sandwich and then boarded the ship and headed out onto the beautiful blue sea with the sun shining. There was an excited atmosphere on the boat and everyone speculated which side of the boat would be the best. It's a shame I can't upload videos here! If someone is interested, I can send the videos via WhatsApp... Anyway, we sailed for about 1 hour and then it happened. We could already see fountains of water spraying from the surface of the sea in the distance. Then everything happened very quickly. There was a lot of activity in the water and you could see the first whale backs or fins sticking out of the water. Suddenly, 5-6 whales were very close to the boat and several dolphins were darting around, seagulls circled above the whole scene. It was indescribable! You could see the white bellies of the whales flashing in the water and, on top of everything, they also relieved themselves right next to the boat so we could smell and see it :D It was absolutely amazing to be able to experience these magnificent and beautiful creatures so close and free! I think I would have to do it at least 10 more times to really take in everything. After 1.30 hours, we had to turn back and the whole boat was still excited and somehow exhausted from these impressions and the "running" from one side of the boat to the other. We let the sun shine on our noses once again and the wind blow around our ears until we happily and satisfied stood on solid ground again. Our guides picked us up and we got pizza together and ate it on the beach while watching the sunset. After that, we played in the sand a bit more and drove back to the camp. It was the most beautiful day during the trip and I'm so glad to have experienced it! After this day, we were also happy to slip into our tent and go to sleep!:)
