Without a fluttering plastic bag as a window, we wake up refreshed and in good weather at the harbor, have breakfast and drive towards the national park, which is located northwest of Auckland. There we whip our iron carriage through winding roads, take a short break at a viewpoint and then park at a sandy area near the beach.

From here we take a short walk to the water and explore the beach and the adjacent rock formations.

We linger for a while, turn around and take a short hike inland, which leads us to an idyllic waterfall.

We share the spot at the waterfall with several sightseeing groups and wait for a moment until we sit by the shore and rest a little.

Back at the car, we continue the winding drive and after half an hour we arrive in Piha and the Piha Bay. We have decided to spend the last two days at a campground, as we want to give our bodies another detox after this time and use the Wi-Fi and electricity to take care of some things. In addition, we don't want to tempt fate and a campground seems more "break-in safe" than any remote parking space.

The bay itself is absolutely stunning. The 200-meter wide, shallow sand beach is divided by a huge volcanic rock (Lions Rock) and although it is relatively touristy, there is a very pleasant atmosphere.

We spend the afternoon in the van and continue to write applications and blog entries. In the evening, we take a short walk to the beach, which is bathed in grey light. The clouds form a dramatic sky and we let our eyes wander over the impressive panorama. Then we make some food in the car and go to bed.
