Our next destination was Negril in the west of Jamaica. Negril is one of the most popular tourist spots on the island. That's why we were very happy to be here during the off-season, as we were almost the only tourists. In Negril, David and I were waiting for two friends who came to visit us in Jamaica, and this was definitely the perfect place for that. Negril itself is very small but known for its eleven-kilometre-long sandy beach, also known as the 'seven miles beach'. A local told us that in the 70s, many hippies came to this place and the whole beach was full of tents and people partying. He remembered this time very fondly. The actual town is largely located on a cliff plateau that drops into the sea, which means you can walk along beautiful cliffs for kilometers. One of the world's most famous bars, 'Rick's Cafe', is located there, where tourists and locals jump into the sea from the cliffs. When our friends arrived, we moved to the end of the town to a beautiful resort that we practically had to ourselves. We could go snorkeling at our private beach and reef or relax in one of the natural pools. Our first activity every morning after waking up was swimming and snorkeling. The water was so clear that we could see the many beautiful fish perfectly. This was a place where you could truly unwind.
