Morning cloudy, afternoon sunny
After one last shopping trip in a Norwegian supermarket - to get rid of the last Norwegian Kroner - we drive 18 km to the border and enter Finland without any checks. Here we have to set the clock 1 hour ahead.
The road to Inari, located on the lake of the same name, runs on an almost straight road that continues on the hilly plateau. Every turn is a change, settlement is very sparse. In Inari, we check into our apartment at Villa Lanca, have our lunch break, and explore the place.
There are supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, and some providers for outdoor activities such as fishing trips, boat tours, husky or snowmobile safaris.
In summer as well as in winter, it is certainly very busy here, but we are currently in an autumnal, quiet intermediate phase. However, we have received some information for interesting hikes at the tourist information center.
We walk along the lake for a while, then turn towards the river and go shopping on the way back.
As we start to settle into the apartment, we unfortunately notice some serious deficiencies. For example, the ceiling on the upper floor is so low that you can only reach the beds with a stoop. The same applies to the shower in the bathroom. The kitchen is very poorly equipped, there are only two old hot plates, too few pots, and hardly any kitchen utensils needed for cooking. After dark, it is brightly illuminated all around that we can hardly darken the windows for sleeping. What a pity.
