Thai Christmas

Monday, December 25th: To reassure you: It rained here too on Christmas! Christmas Eve, half the night was like a torrent and even today there were a few showers - sometimes the horizon was barely visible in the uniform gray... But of course all of this at relaxed temperatures of 28 degrees... Things will get better again tomorrow.

There were zero Christmas decorations in our hotel - not even a candle. The photos are from a posh resort a little further down the beach. But we didn't miss anything, we had a gin and tonic, coconuts and delicious shrimp. Elmar didn't want to share his with this adorable cat, who - almost like Kira back then - asked very discreetly but persistently...

Three days ago I suddenly got a "back", starting after our paddling tour and then unfortunately getting worse - sitting and standing are really stupid. So the day before yesterday we walked 40 minutes down the street to the larger town in search of a pharmacy. I was hoping for Tiger Balm or something similar. But there weren't any, just some pills, which of course I didn't take. On this occasion we found these incredibly delicious Poffertjes Thai style at a street stand - namely with coconut milk! Warm and with a little sugar, a real treat! But don't worry, we still left enough coconuts on the island...

Tomorrow, after almost two weeks here in this wonderful place, we will continue to experience new impressions. First by boat to the mainland to Trang and then in the evening by night train to Bangkok, where we arrived on December 27th. Arrive around 6:30 in the morning. I'm excited because Elmar was already there on his first trip to Thailand, but we weren't there together 11 years ago.
