Yesterday, we took a trip on the Route des Crêtes, around the Verdon Gorge. This is the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon and incredibly impressive.
The entire drive around takes about an hour and a half without photo stops or getting out to enjoy nature. There are many good viewpoints along the route where you can park and have a great view. Since we left very early and it is still low season, the tour was very nice and less exhausting.
In the gorge, you can observe many vultures, and near Rougon, you also have the opportunity to witness vulture feedings. However, we did not do this. Instead, we sat in a small pizzeria on the edge of the route, overlooking the gorge, and took a lunch break.
If you want to drive the Route des Crêtes, you should do it clockwise. There is a narrow road in La Palud that is only passable in one direction.
