Nusa Penida

Cyhoeddwyd: 01.08.2017

The Nusa Penida is beautiful scenic, but still relatively unknown compared to the other Balinese islands. But that's exactly the charm of the island. You can tell, especially in the smaller towns, that not many tourists come here. The children run after the scooter and wave, you are being watched with big eyes, and occasionally we had to serve as photo models. :-)

Since there is not much tourism, the streets are also in poor condition, there are more potholes than road! And it is sometimes quite difficult to find the sights.

On our second day, when we were driving back from Angels Billabong, a natural pool between rocks by the sea, to our accommodation, Flo lost his phone. It contained all the pictures from the past few years, New Zealand, Asia, Australia... We drove the road twice and searched, but without success. We asked a few farmers and in a few snack bars along the way, and left my phone number at a restaurant. After a few days, someone actually found the phone! Flo was lucky again!

On our last evening, we met Bagus, the owner of the only official bar on the island. He wanted to play live music with friends that evening and invited us to come. Since we wanted to leave early the next day with the ferry, we actually just wanted to have a beer and go to bed. But as always, that didn't work out and we fell for the Arak... :-)

With a pretty bad hangover, we headed back to Canggu the next day. Traffic was at its peak that day. We had to drive on a three-lane road towards Denpasar, the capital. In the city, it was just chaotic (at least for us, who are not used to traffic). I was so relieved when we finally returned to Canggu and could jump into the pool!

The last week was pretty chill, until on June 3rd it was time for me to go back to Darwin. I would have loved to stay longer!!!
