In order to escape the gray, rainy weather in northern Germany, we decided in the drizzle of last Christmas to use the holidays for a warm holiday. After some consideration, we finally decided on Costa Rica, where the average temperature in the dry season in December is a pleasant mid-20°C. On December 23rd we started with the plane to Frankfurt and then on to San José. It all started when both planes were late, so we landed 90 minutes later than planned.
The flight of more than twelve hours was still in our bones when we stepped out of the airport into the warmth of the evening. The transfer to our hotel ran through the city center and we immediately saw why it is not recommended to drive in San José, even though there wasn't much traffic in the evening: Nevertheless, everyone here seemed to have their own right-of-way rule, which was our German one But the driver didn't lose her calm.
It was already quite late, but we still went for a short walk.
We walked past the National Theater to the city's cathedral, but were then too tired to see more of the city center.
