Invergordon was founded only in the 18th century, and the port was built in 1828. Until 1956, Invergordon served as a naval port and later became a base for oil rig construction and maintenance.
With just around 4,000 residents, it is a small town. The businesses seem to be struggling as well, but it is notably more well-kept than Dover.
Many houses are painted with pictures, and there is a small museum, a beautiful park maintained by volunteers, and in the church, crew and passengers of our ship were welcomed.
There is a train to Inverness that takes about an hour. However, it is designed for commuters, running only in the morning, evening, and once during midday.
