Hello! This means: Good day, my dear! After a hearty breakfast at the recommendable hotel 'Kings Inbun' (Who would have thought?) - a former prison in Alkmaar - we headed south today - fortunately the wind had turned to north-northeast. As if we reached Heiloo. Jos - an acquaintance and friend, as his name suggests, of Dutch origin - had informed us that the largest pilgrimage site in the Netherlands is located there.
The Mother of God has been worshiped and prayed to here since the 15th century. The place radiates peace and grandeur, one is somewhat removed from the world. After our pilgrimage to Lourdes last year, we were particularly pleased with the depiction of the Mother of God of Lourdes.
A place of prayer and reflection.
From there we continued south, passing through several places until we reached the dune landscape of Zandvoort - by the looks of it, firmly in the hands of German tourists.
We couldn't resist taking a dip in the cool water.
After collecting enough sand, we continued on the dune cycle path to Noordwijk and from there to Lisse.
to our accommodation - De Kaags Koe, near the Huigsloot Canal and highly recommended; there is the restaurant Lowietje an de Kaag - highly recommended and wonderfully located.
While you eat, dozens of road cyclists whiz by on the street and on the canal, ordinary people as well as Mr. and Mrs. Nouveau Riche sail by in their boats.
Our hostess is very friendly and helpful; the accommodation is located in a Dutch farmhouse and is highly recommended, here is the link: https://www.dekaagsekoe.nl/en/
