Breakfast at Pollard Park, then we drive to Brayshow Park, where old agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as old shops (dentist, pharmacy, hatter, fire department) are exhibited. We start towards Christchurch around noon. 27 degrees and sunshine in Blenheim. As soon as we leave Blenheim's surroundings, it starts to rain. First break in Murchison (160km away) in pouring rain. Continuing over the Lewis Pass, past many waterfalls, rushing streams and rivers. The heavy rain is accompanied by a very strong wind, weather warnings are displayed at the roadside. Our destination today is Amberley, a place about 50km before Christchurch. About 60km before Amberley, the rain subsides, sun, blue sky. Rainbows accompany us through the magnificent landscapes. We drive through a narrow valley, mountain masses on the left and right. Arrival in Amberley at a warm 23 degrees. Drive to Amberley Beach where we stay overnight on a side street. At night the wind shakes our motorhome and it rains.
