Who is the home team again?

Cyhoeddwyd: 25.10.2017

Today, finally! :-D no more #rannfladdicted in front of the TV, today live on site at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Miami Dolphins.
One would think it is a home game for the Miami Dolphins, but somehow only fans of the visiting team from Pittsburgh could be seen and heard... at least in the first three quarters :)
For us, just the arrival at the stadium was a highlight. No, I'm not talking about the $40 for parking on a gravel lot (!!!), but that the fans had set up their tents there and positioned their tables, chairs and grills in front of them. Burgers and spare ribs were grilled, salads and desserts were set up, and of course there was also beer. Footballs were already being thrown around a lot. Just cool to walk through there and see everything that you only know from movies. Unfortunately, the bad weather came into play again, because it started pouring. So we quickly ran towards the stadium so as not to get completely wet. Thunderstorms and rain were predicted. But no worries, the stadium was covered :) but when we sat in our seats, which were really good because we were very close to the field, we noticed that the said roof no longer covered US :-/ so we would get completely wet... but it turned out that rain would be our lesser worry. Because the sun came out, and boy was it scorching hot! It was so hot, it was really borderline. Due to the weather forecast, we didn't apply sunscreen :-( from now on, Patrick and I call ourselves the Tshirt-Arm-Gang xD
When the guests entered, as well as the home team, I really wondered which stadium we were in. The black and yellow Pittsburgh-Steeler fans were somehow more present and louder than the blue and orange Miami-Dolphin fans. The atmosphere in the stadium was gigantic and once again I got goosebumps during the national anthem (with fireworks and helicopters) and during the honoring of their military personnel. It always impresses me how much value the military and the fire department have here and how proud Americans are of it.
The game itself was not bad but not outstanding either. The Dolphins won it clearly against the favored Steelers. It was just fun to watch and let the atmosphere sink in. And that was the main thing :)
It was a great day with a great event. You just can't compare it to attending a Bundesliga match, there is so much more to it and around it. I think we will visit an NFL game on every trip to the USA, if possible. It remains a highlight!
