In the morning, we had a traditional Japanese breakfast at the ryokan. Then we took the train to Himeji to admire one of the last remaining Japanese castles. Himeji Castle, also known as the 'White Heron', dates back to the 17th century, with only the main tower and parts of the western fortifications remaining. We also visited the newly landscaped castle gardens, which consisted of a total of 9 different Japanese gardens. One of them had a very beautiful koi pond.
In the evening, we took the train to Osaka. For dinner, we went to the famous Dotonbori Street with its many restaurants and other shops in colorful neon lights.
