Andalusia Trip 1: Layover in Lisbon

Cyhoeddwyd: 30.08.2022

This year, my husband and I are going on vacation to Andalusia, where we will travel by plane.

The cheapest flight to Malaga has a 12-hour layover in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, which we will use for a short visit.

To get from the airport to the city center, we used the metro, which was thankfully user-friendly (except for the ticket machine). Once we arrived in the old town, we treated ourselves to a delicious breakfast in a café before exploring the city on foot.

We walked uphill through old streets with chaotic traffic, passing by churches and souvenir shops, and enjoying views of the city and the Tejo River. At the top, there was a castle, but there was an admission fee and long waiting times, so we continued on our way.

Now we strolled through the newer district of Baixa, which was very structured with numerous large squares and buildings. Just north of it, we discovered a large standalone tower that promised a good view. However, we had already enjoyed good views elsewhere, so we didn't join the very long queue here. Instead, we admired the numerous tiles and cork decorations adorning the facades of the houses, which seemed to be famous here.

Although there was a pleasant breeze due to the proximity to the coast, it was still very hot, so we took a break with cool drinks before strolling along the Tejo River towards the big bridge and the statue of Christ. Afterwards, we relaxed in a shady park before heading back to the airport.
