Just a small addition to Roanoke:
In the evening, we visited the Roanoke Star. It was rather brief because it was windy and cold.
I highly recommend staying at Elaine and Richard's accommodation. There are many little things that make it very cozy, like the nightlight and the bathtub.
On Wednesday, before our drive to Asheville, we visited the Museum of Transportation. At least one of us had fun there (I enjoyed it less) and was in awe for most of the time. (I must admit, the locomotives were quite impressive)
Afterwards, we returned to the Blue Ridge Parkway. After some stops, some very windy and some closed, but all very beautiful, we arrived in Asheville in the evening.
After the quite long drive, we decided on Thai cuisine. And we were not disappointed with delicious summer rolls and Pad See Ew (wide rice noodles with side dishes).
A first small stroll around downtown Asheville already showed us that we have discovered a little treasure here.
We had to explore this on the next day.
Besides many small breweries, Asheville is a city that has a vibrant art scene, especially in downtown.
After visiting the only waterfall in Asheville, taking a walk through the arcades, and strolling through the streets, we stopped at the Wicked Weed Brewery.
There, we had a very personal brewery tour, as no one else had signed up. Both the tour guide learned something (e.g. that you can also taste the malt and not just smell it) and we learned something (there is no purity law in the USA, so you can mix anything in). And as a finale, we had a small tasting here.
In the evening, we decided to go to an Open Mic Comedy Show. Here, everyone has the opportunity to present themselves, but there are also scheduled comedians. I must say, it helped me a lot with my English and I feel like I've made another leap, and it was also very funny.
So, we saw a lot in these days, laughed a lot, and covered a lot of distance. So, take a look at the pictures and enjoy. There won't be many more entries.
