06.02.2023 Lake King William to Devonport

Today we are awake early, it is not cold, but we have slept well. Quickly everything is packed up, we are becoming more professional. Yesterday we decided not to go to Hobart, it's not a national park, so what do we want there. Visiting the old prison in Port Arthur is also overrated. Additionally, we noticed that we calculated the time on the island under different assumptions. That means, the distances are one thing, the time required for that is something completely different. Whatever. We have to go to the north and pass by the Great Lake (a large lake) on the plateau (about 1000m above sea level), a paradise for anglers and water hikers. On one of the lookouts, we see that mainly trout are caught here. Further north, we have identified a tourist highlight in the town of Launceston, the second largest city in Tasmania, a cataract with bathing pools and large trees. There are 100 other tourists here with us, but they get lost in the terrain. We hike to the bridge that shows the cataract (the rapids), around the bathing pools, and admire huge trees that don't belong here, a sequoia, a cedar, and a cypress. There is also internet here, so we spend our obligatory hour catching up on world news. We drive back to Devonport and find an RV parking spot for nothing, cook ourselves a nice dinner, and end the day. The sun is shining, but the wind is blowing heavily over the sports field where we are allowed to stay. Tomorrow at 6 o'clock we should be at the ferry, which can be reached in 4 minutes. Everything will be fine.
