In the Caribbean. Sounds great. Sounds like luxury. But it's not always. For example, when the accommodation turns out to be a dump despite the beautiful pictures on the internet. I'm not picky (I think), but in Manzanillo I didn't even dare to take a shower... Even with the watchdog on a chain, who took his job very seriously, there was no chance of sleep, and 2 Corona beers didn't help much, it was clear: one night here, definitely not 3! Let it go...
And now I've ended up in the exact opposite. Just 4 km away. A dream of luxury. Of course, it costs, but I feel very comfortable. Sloths, monkeys, countless birds, I'm in the middle of nature, right on the beach, and at the same time, I enjoy all the comfort. WOW!
So what is luxury then? The possibility to buy a good feeling? The beach, nature, surroundings, people, everything equal? And yet, it's things like security (a safe...), familiarity with the familiar, and the kindness of the people that make a difference. I had the feeling that the family in Manzanillo was quite stressed. When I announced that I would be moving on after one night, there was: nothing! No question, no interest. It just didn't fit.
Note: I had fish for the last two evenings. Both very tasty. I found the simple, inexpensive 'Catch of the Day' at Colores Seafront in Manzanillo better because it was fresher, boneless, and less dry. Luxury or not...
What am I grateful for today? That I don't have to worry about material things for myself and my family?
Today, I fully enjoy this luxury once again. It remains an exception. And that's good.
