25.03. (No ?) Stargazers

Beautiful weather, 19 degrees, sun with a few clouds. Today we went hiking to prevent 'decay symptoms'. We hiked on a circular path on Mount John and back along the lake (approx. 4 hours). Along the way, we had fantastic views of Lake Tekapo and the surrounding mountains.

The area is an International Dark Sky Reserve, which means you can admire the night sky here particularly clearly. The university operates professional stargazing at the observatory on Mount John. If you like, you can take a guided 'Stargazing Tour' at night. We have planned to do this tonight, unless the sky becomes overcast again....
