Early in the morning, we went to the airport once again. We stayed in the country, but the security check was quite special today. All bags were inspected for fresh food. After it was determined that there were none in the luggage, it was sealed. Our flight went to the Galapagos Islands. A group of islands in the Pacific, about 1,000 kilometers west of the Ecuadorian coast. The archipelago consists of approximately 130 islands, only 5 of which are inhabited, about 97% of the island's surface and 99% of the surrounding waters are protected. Here, there are animal species and plants that exist nowhere else in the world. In order to protect this unique world, there are strict import regulations and only a limited number of people allowed to visit the islands. At the airport on Baltra Island, we were greeted by our guide Cristian and waited for 14 more fellow travelers before boarding our ship. We are on a 7-day scuba diving cruise to explore the extraordinary world around the islands from the water. We had a delicious lunch, settled into our cabin, and then it was time for the first check dive below the surface of the water.
