Here you can see it: the largest maelstrom on earth! Gigantic, incredibly large and somehow extraordinarily calming.
We have arrived in #Saltstraumen. Something impressive is happening there due to the tides: the seawater is pushed from the Saltfjorden into the Skjerstadifjorden through a small passage during high tide, and almost sucked back out during low tide.
When you see this great maelstrom, you tend to lose track of time. It's like sitting by the campfire and watching the flames. Unfortunately, there are no edible apple strudels here, so after a night's break in Saltstraumen, we continue to Tømmerneset. There we unexpectedly visit an old rock carving of two elks before treating ourselves to a basket full of blueberries.
