After a 10-hour bus ride with some minor detours, we arrived at Kuala Besut on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. The next day, we took a speedboat to Perhentian Kecil Island. Since we couldn't find any affordable accommodation online beforehand, we asked around at Long Beach. After treating ourselves to a nicer place to stay for the next 4 nights, we inquired about the possible activities on the beach: diving, snorkeling, banana boat, stand up paddling, kayaking, etc.
The next day, we spent the morning lazily lounging on the beach, and in the evening, we had a delicious barbecue. Unfortunately, Janina started experiencing earache, which hindered us from taking part in the many activities offered over the next few days. That's why we were glad we splurged on a "better" hotel, as we ended up spending some time there (even though the air conditioning only worked from 18:30 to 9:30, as there was only electricity during that time). However, our balcony offered a great view. So, we used the days to recover and recuperate before continuing our journey towards the Cameron Highlands.
