White Horse Hill Campground, Mount Cook Village
We all go to Hooker Lake again for sunrise. It's hard to believe that we are now on the other side of the mountain range. The Fox Glacier is only about 25 km away as the crow flies, but it takes almost six hours by car. The huge icebergs in the lake, which are only a few meters away from you in the water, are also hard to believe. Although we have little luck with the sunrise, we enjoy the beautiful landscape and the tranquility. Later, we dare to put our feet in the water, but they start hurting a lot after a short time. Nicola wants to know it all and jumps completely into the two-degree cold water. On the way back, we realize that we were at the glacier lake at the right time, as many people are coming towards us again. After a hearty breakfast, we drive to a campsite at Lake Pukaki and spend the rest of the sunny day here with a view of Mount Cook and the turquoise-colored lake.
