Today, we have planned a two-part leg. First, we were supposed to go from the 'Shangri La' campground somewhere near Ohio to Cleveland. I had seen that the Indians were playing at 1 pm today, but we were aiming for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Great location right on Lake Erie, directly in downtown Cleveland.
By the way, right next to the Browns' football stadium, but more on that later. We drove into Cleveland from the east, which took us through the suburbs. Then we arrived at the University Circle as the first highlight. Great old mighty buildings... I think US universities are great. We then continued towards downtown and noticed a change... People were all dressed in brown and orange and were heading in the same direction as us. And then it dawned on us. There is also a football game going on at the same time. The whole city was alive. In a good mood and in party mood. The parking lots looked more like campsites with grills and fun. The police had everything under control on foot, by motorcycle, and on horseback. Incredible what logistical effort, but everything works perfectly and everyone can enjoy the event.
We observed this more or less from a distance and went to the rock and roll Hall of Fame. The admission of over 23 dollars seemed a bit much to us, and there was also a lot to see without admission. Two souvenir shirts also found their way into my suitcase, and we could start looking for accommodation. A few very cozy fishing villages along Lake Erie lined the way, each worth seeing in its own way. When it got dark, we found a Walmart parking lot that we had already come to love.
