Today was basically a transfer stage, as they would say in the Tour de France. We are now roughly heading towards Niagara Falls and our today's stop should be somewhere in between. To do this, we fought through various small traffic jams from New Jersey and New York in the morning. Then we drove up the Hudson River and after not so long, arrived in Newburgh, New York. There is Orange County Choppers, also known as OCC. A MUST for every biker and also for my father. But I thought it was cool too. For those who don't know, the guys there build motorcycles, called custom bikes, and are considered the ultimate in this scene worldwide. The motorcycle forge became known in Germany especially through the documentaries on DMAX.
Now we were there LIVE. A large showroom with some great bikes and lots of clothes to shop. Nice things that not only I got well supplied with. I would have liked to have a nice OCC metal sign for my living room, but it wasn't available. The friendly salesman told me that the Senior Manager was recently in Hamburg. In the same building there is a small bowling alley and behind it a café, which is certainly also used as a bar with live music in the evening. Very nice atmosphere. For lunch, I had a Pulled Pork Burger with French Fries (known as Pommes at home). The best I have eaten here so far. Very delicious. It was a very nice stopover.
Then we continued, through Rockland County, I even saw the psychiatric clinic that is sung about by Katzenjammer. Then past West Point - certainly a term known to Civil War experts - and now we are about 150 miles from the Canadian border in Gilboa. We found a very idyllic campground here, surrounded by lots of forests and mountains. Beautiful landscape here, it's a bit like what I imagine Canada to be like. However, we haven't seen any bears yet, but a deer that was very interested in us. Another 250 miles to Niagara Falls, we should be there in 2 days.
