The Panama Canal Zone had its own currency called 'Balboa', named after the Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa, but it was never really produced in large quantities. Instead, the US dollar is used as the official currency in Panama or the beer brand 'Balboa'. A fantastic beer.
The canal was developed in 1907 through several new inventions and very clever systems to balance a height difference of 26m between the two seas, i.e. there are 3 locks connecting the reservoir to the sea and it rushes 14,000 ships per year. You can catch the rest in a documentary.
In the evening, there was delicious fish, but no more delicious Margarita because the new president will be elected tomorrow.
