After another restful night on the banks of the Vltava, we start our Sunday (June 18, 2017) at eight o'clock. The morning flies by. After a detour through the town center and a short shopping trip to the local supermarket followed by breakfast, I open the Pandora's box. I publish my travel blog via WhatsApp. With all the back and forth messaging, I'm busy until late afternoon. It was great to see that some people back home are interested in my adventure. Thank you for your support.
Finally, we can continue our journey and head to Višší Brod. Contrary to the signs, we have already completed half of our daily stage by reaching Hrubnik after about 3 kilometers. Just before leaving the town, two dogs behind a garden fence go crazy as soon as they see us. Despite that, I manage to calmly lead Rango past the property by reassuring him. He leaves his mark about 5 meters away, and we march on. The Dicke does his business.
We arrive in Višší Brod after an hour and a half and about 6 kilometers. Since it is the first longer distance barefoot for Rango in a while, we decide to call it a day. I spend the afternoon doing laundry and taking a bath in the Vltava. This time, I can't convince Dicke to join me in the cool water.
In the evening, I take a stroll in the town. Of course, the 750-year-old Cistercian Abbey stands out and shapes the cityscape. Otherwise, the beautifully located town is known for its high density of dentists and a few shady establishments. Its proximity to the German-speaking region leaves its mark...
On my way back to the tent, I treat myself to a visit to a pub. After all, it would be my last evening in the Czech Republic.
