Wow, it's hot today. We want to start early so that we can arrive early - that works perfectly because we both take our time, sit at breakfast for a long time, and by the time we finally get going, it's already past 10 o'clock and already warm, but oh well, it's summer after all.
We talk about our impressions of our last accommodation: beautifully located, extremely well built, the food was okay but not special. The striking thing was the people who didn't make us feel welcome. Too bad, but now a new beautiful day begins.
We ride along the Kinzig bike path, and indeed everything is well signposted, so we can be happy about that. The route mostly follows the Kinzig, but care is taken not to bypass villages, but to lead cyclists through beautiful lanes. We think that's great. Wolfach, for example, is absolutely beautiful! Here we absolutely have to buy more drinks and watermelon. Thirsty today... whether it's because of all the Riesling from yesterday or the weather, it's completely unclear.
Good thing we're only cycling about 50 kilometers today, Alpirsbach is the destination for the day and we swear not to drink wine again tonight.
The sun is scorching from the blue sky as we reach our destination. It's always a bit more complicated with the bikes and saddlebags until everything is stowed away in the room, the bike doesn't want to stay on the stand and you have to lean it against something, one of us checks in, the other "guards" everything. So we're standing outside the hotel and Mario is leaning his bike against the wall when the waiter from the restaurant rushes out the door and scolds him really angrily: "Great spot for a bike! It has to be moved immediately" the second waiter runs after him and says no less unfriendly: "It can't stay there!"
Mario tries to explain to her that we are hotel guests and wanted to check in and that they just have to tell us where to put everything. The reception desk is not staffed now, she doesn't have time and we should come back in an hour, that was the information. No "can I bring you something to drink" or "please have a seat". What a load of crap, there were such delicious dishes on the signs of the beer garden and we could almost taste the big Radler in our minds.
But since we were treated so carelessly at the last accommodation, we unanimously and without hesitation decide that we're not putting up with this and will immediately go somewhere else.
We end up in a cute bistro, drink loads of non-alcoholic beer and apple spritzer, have a little something to eat, and then look for a new place to stay for the night.
Of course, not without canceling the original accommodation first. We try to be nice, but we explain to the unfriendly waiter that we don't want the room because we don't feel welcome here. The new hotel is a stroke of luck: we found a nice hotel with very friendly people just 300m from the originally booked hotel. The room is great and the food in the restaurant is delicious. We feel welcome and enjoy the positive atmosphere.
