We're back home. It feels strange. Somehow everything has stayed the same. You come into the apartment and recognize it immediately, everything looks the same, it smells the same and it feels exactly the same - as when you left.
And yet everything is different. Because traveling changes you, every time. I believe traveling makes us better, more understanding, more empathetic, more humble and certainly happier.
“But you can’t travel as much with a baby” — “the holidays are over for now”… Nope! We did it anyway and it was the best decision of our lives. It was undoubtedly the most beautiful and intense time we have ever had and we are grateful for every single moment. We would choose to travel with a baby again at any time.
But now enough of the chatter and let’s get to the facts.
In the 11 weeks we covered a total of 48,917.99 km (as the crow flies). We boarded a plane 14 times. (Yes, our carbon footprint is currently in the negative...). In total, we spent almost 61 hours on a plane during the 3 months. That's 2.5 days. By flying, we saved 4 nights in a hotel.
We traveled with 6 different rental cars and visited 19 different cities/islands. These were spread across 5 countries and 2 continents.
We changed hotels 22 times, meaning we spent an average of 4 nights per hotel.
During our 77 days we had 5 rainy days. 2 in Japan, 2 in Australia and 1 in Khao Lak (although we were still able to sit on the beach there).
On the trip, Kian learned to crawl, sit, stand up, pull himself up, stand and babble. He also has two teeth now. He is one size larger than when he left and is 1.5 kilos heavier and a full 5 centimeters taller.
We associate the trip not only with wonderful memories of the places and experiences, but also with many milestones in Kian's development.
There's only one thing left: Thank you to everyone who supported, accompanied and followed us on our trip. It was fun writing for you.
Lots of love and see you on the next big adventure
