Boiling water

I woke up again before my alarm at 7 o'clock in order to arrive at Hierve el Agua as soon as possible. After an hour-long bus ride, I arrived in the village of Mitla. There were four of us, all wanting to go to Hierve el Agua, so we shared a taxi. I spent the rest of the day with Jhovanny from Mexico and Erin and Dan from the USA. We reached our destination at 10 o'clock and were almost alone at the Infinity Pools. However, it was still too cold to swim, so we found a hiking trail (a shortcut to the normal path) that led to the waterfalls.

Hierve el Agua is particularly known for these petrified waterfalls. Water rich in minerals flows down from the source and the stone absorbs the minerals - or something like that, creating these rock formations.

After the hike, it was time for refreshment. The water in the 2 Infinity Pools definitely served its purpose as a cooling down. Then we took a Camioneta / SUV down, there were ten (10!) of us in the back 😆

In Mitla, we said goodbye to Erin and Dan and I had lunch with Jhovanny (soup, then chicken with black sauce and beans). Afterward, we visited the Mitla Ruins, built by the Zapotecs, which are particularly known for their wall structures. Then we drove to the next village - Teotitlán del Valle, where we took a stroll and visited a village museum.

After that, we headed back to Oaxaca, both of us were pretty tired. In the hostel, I extended my stay for another night, there is so much to see around Oaxaca.
