Thursday was the day. It was time to pack my bags and that was a damn strange feeling. Because this time we didn't go to the next destination - but home.
We spent the day in the hotel complex. Early in the morning I “reserved” loungers, which is why we had the best seats by the pool 😅. We distributed our remaining money to the employees, who we remembered very positively during our stay.
Last time we went swimming in the pool and golf. As a farewell we were able to watch a perfect sunset. For me, every moment of the trip passed me like a film. I have to admit that I was pretty sad. Of course, you're also looking forward to being home. Elisa, on the other hand, was very happy.
After the last supper we went to the lobby with our bags and luggage to check out. On the concierge's advice, we took a taxi to the airport. Turn around one last time and look at the illuminated hotel... At the end of the journey, however, the taxi driver's card reader didn't work. He started to panic because I only had 20 dirhams left (bill: 108 dirhams) that I could hand to him. Of course our foreign currency in the suitcases was not touched 😁. But then it still worked. He still clung to the 20 and I said he could keep it 😅. He was very happy then.
We still had plenty of time at the airport. In this respect, we were able to delete a lot of images or put them in the status reports. Otherwise you don't have time 😅. We bet how much two bottles of water cost at the airport. I was closer and could have bought even more with the 20 from the taxi driver. The next dinner should be at Elisa’s expense 😄. At some point we went to the gate. There were still selective checks there. I was able to get through, but Elisa was fished out. Nothing found. Lucky you 😁. Now we could go to Frankfurt!
For a change we started very punctually. Since we previously flew with Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa seems like a 2nd Bundesliga relegation battle to us (seats, service, food, friendliness) 😅. It was once again a great flight and we even arrived at Frankfurt airport on time. Too early for us 😅.
Weeks before, we decided to stay one night in Frankfurt and drive back to Magdeburg in a rental car the following day.
Elisa's suitcase was intact, but my suitcase was very dented. I was a bit upset about that. Afterwards we were supposed to go through customs, but we didn't see anyone. Basically, we didn't even notice that we had already passed the area... We'd better leave that uncommented 🙈🤦🏼♂️.
We wanted to take the train to the hotel, but unfortunately it was out of service. Then we took a taxi. When we gave the address, the taxi driver got naggy and really pissed off because we only had a 5 minute journey. During the drive he ignored us and drove very slowly. We've never experienced anything like this before and couldn't really believe it. The taximeter showed 11.10 euros. He simply entered 12 euros into the card reader, but was very rude himself. At first I wanted to give it a chance and point out the 11.10 euros... Finally I gave up on it and instead thanked him very much for the lovely trip.
At the hotel, the ladies at the reception didn't speak German, which wasn't a problem, but that seemed kind of strange to us. Since we arrived very punctually at 6:45 a.m., we had to wait almost two hours before we were allowed to move into the room early for an additional charge. Finally we could sleep!
In the afternoon we took an Uber into town and did some shopping. Elisa saw a theft, but the thief was caught by security... 🤷🏼♂️
For dinner we went to a Vapiano and Elisa paid off her betting debts. The food was good and we were able to take an Uber on the way home. But there was a real scary moment on the journey. A pedestrian simply runs across the street during his red phase and luckily slipped... You don't even want to think about how it would have turned out otherwise (our driver was traveling very fast). We were just happy to finally be in the hotel 🥵.
On Saturday we drove to Magdeburg in a rental car and arrived safely 😊.
Kind regards ☀️
