After months of preparation, several trips to the tailor, and a lot of anticipation, the Oktoberfest at the local Kempinski Hotel was finally here. So we got dressed up, me in a tailored dirndl and Gregor in fake leather pants, and went to the hotel with acquaintances. There was a large festival tent set up there, and when 'we Germans' entered the festival, the amazed Chinese people pulled out their cameras and took pictures of us all evening. First, we satisfied our hunger and tried the German food - some of it quite authentic (the roasted pork knuckle!!!), others not so much. And then it really started, a band flown in from Germany heated things up and it quickly became lively. The Chinese people went crazy when two of their songs were played, it was very funny to watch. Overall, we had a nice evening, by the way, the first one without kids here, and something to talk about.
