Kratie is a cute little town, right on the Mekong River. The nice thing here is that there are hardly any tourists.
We came here to see the silver dolphins that live in the Mekong. These are freshwater dolphins that are endangered.
Compared to other dolphins, these dolphins look very funny because they don't have a pointed nose, their heads resemble those of whales.
To see the dolphins, we first took a Tuk Tuk about 20km upstream. The journey itself was an experience. The roads here are not very well built, so the ride was very bumpy. We also passed by a lot of "local" houses that you don't see in the usual tourist cities.
Arriving at the 'dolphin station', we took a small boat onto the Mekong, from where we saw a lot of dolphins. A really beautiful experience.
