Lost in Calakmul

In Campeche, we book a trip to the Mayan ruins in Calakmul for the next day. These are deep in the forest and can also be climbed. I can already imagine climbing the highest Mayan pyramids. The next morning, the driver picks us up at the hotel at 05:00. Including a breakfast break, we need about 4 hours for the drive. Unfortunately, he informs us that some paths are closed and not all buildings are accessible. In fact, we find many paths blocked. However, a guide in front of one of the pyramids tells us that we don't have to pay much attention to the barricades and shows us the general way to the largest structures. A bit lost, we walk around the site, but then (along with some other visitors) we arrive at our destination. The heat doesn't deter us from the climb. We are rewarded with a beautiful view over the endless forest all the way to Guatemala.
